Wellness Exams

Here at Hazel Dell Animal Hospital, we want your pet to be healthy, just as much as you do. That’s why we recommend preventative wellness care in the form of pet vaccinations and wellness exams here in Carmel. We offer complete wellness exams for pet’s of all ages, with consideration to their unique needs.

Your pet’s health is always our number one priority, which is why for most pets we recommend annual wellness exams to ensure that your animal companion remains in good health. If your pet is a senior–over seven for dogs, over nine for cats–we strongly suggest twice-yearly exams and blood screenings. That’s because pets age more rapidly than humans, meaning disease and illness develop faster as well.

Hazel Dell Animal Hospital’s veterinarian-performed physical exams comprehensively assess every aspect of your pet’s health. Wellness exams typically include:

  • Ear exam
  • Eye exam
  • Rectal exam
  • Dental exam
  • Skeletal exam
  • Reproductive system exam
  • Internal health evaluation
  • Neurological evaluation
  • Cardiovascular evaluation
  • Nutrition consultation
  • Behavior counseling

If necessary, we can also perform additional screening, such as blood work and x-rays, for an internal examination. If you have any questions about your pet’s diet, activity level, parasite control, or anything else, please feel free to discuss them with us. We want to educate you as much as possible so you can be equipped to give the best care to your companion from home.

Importance of Pet Vaccination

Pet vaccines should be included in your pet’s overall health plan because they provide protection against serious and even potentially fatal diseases. We can customize a vaccination schedule, based on your pet’s age, breed, lifestyle, and risk of exposure. This can include strictly core (essential) vaccines or a combination of core and non-core (non-essential) vaccines. Ideally, we recommend that your pet’s vaccines be updated on a regular basis. This can be annually or every three years, depending on the vaccine.

Puppy & Kitten Packages

If you recently brought home a new puppy or kitten, congratulations on the new addition to your family! Getting started on the right paw is very important for young pets. To help make this happen, we offer puppy and kitten packages at a discounted rate.
