Dr. Greg McDaniel has been practicing veterinary medicine in Central Indiana since 1994. He developed his love for animals growing up in Rockford Illinois and went on to obtain his degree in veterinary medicine at the University of Illinois in 1994. Dr. McDaniel began his career at Village Park Animal Hospital in Carmel. Four years later he moved on to Northwood Veterinary Hospital in Anderson where he spent 10 years refining his skills in surgery, internal medicine and emergency practice.
Dr. McDaniel currently lives in Noblesville with his wife Sara (also a veterinarian) and their three children Samuel, Megan, and Ben. They share their home with a crazy little Miniature Australian Shepherd named Ace and two cats George and Momma Sophie. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends as well as traveling, cycling, fishing, kayaking, walking Ace, and cheering on the Colts and the Fighting Illini.
Our DVM, Dr. Bassett, is a lifelong resident of Central Indiana. He grew up in Anderson, then attended Purdue University. He graduated from Purdue’s School of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. After graduation, Dr. Bassett practiced in Eastern Iowa and worked on many different kinds of animals (dogs, cats, cattle, pigs, horses, sheep, etc.). In 1991, he returned to Indianapolis and began a career in emergency practice that continues to this day. He was manager of the Animal Emergency Clinic in Castleton from 1995-1998 and director of the Northwood Veterinary Emergency Practice in Anderson from 1998-2002, where he continued to work part-time as a staff veterinarian until 2013. Since starting the Hazel Dell Animal Hospital with Dr. McDaniel in 2002, Dr. Bassett has worked primarily in general practice, providing medical and surgical care to dogs and cats and other assorted small furry creatures.
Dr. Bassett is a resident of Carmel, where he lives with his wife Jill (a personal trainer and fitness facility manager) and their children Andrew, Noah, and Mia. Furry family members include their dogs Midge, Oscar, and Theo and cats Lovey, and Dwight (named after a character on “The Office”). Dr. B has many interests and pursuits, including fitness, music, reading, and travel. Most of all, he enjoys spending time with Jill, the kids, extended family, and friends.
Dr. Cross was born and raised in Ellicott City, Maryland. Growing up, she spent a lot of time with both horses and dogs. It was in third grade that she decided that she wanted to become a veterinarian. After obtaining her Small Animal Science degree from Delaware Valley College in 2003, she attended the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine for her veterinary degree. It was there, on the first day of class that she met her soon to be husband, Randy. After graduating in 2007, Dr. Cross spent 4 years working as an associate veterinarian at a 5 doctor small animal hospital in New Jersey. In 2011, she and her husband (also a Veterinarian) moved to Carmel. She spent 4 years working as an associate veterinarian for VCA before deciding to join the family at Hazel Dell in the Fall of 2015.
Dr. Cross lives in Carmel with her husband Randy and their two young daughters Scarlett and Hazel. They have two very sweet dogs: Nermal, a Beagle mix and Captain Barnacles, a Jack Russell. In her free time, she enjoys walking, cooking, traveling, and riding her horse (Wizzard). Dr. Cross has always valued the human-animal bond and the significance it can bring to people’s lives. She is very excited to be a part of our Animal Hospital and looks forward to meeting you and your furry family members.
