Our DVM, Dr. Greg McDaniel has been practicing veterinary medicine in Central Indiana since 1994. He developed his love for animals growing up in Rockford, Illinois, and went on to obtain his degree in veterinary medicine at the University of Illinois. Dr. McDaniel began his career at Village Park Animal Hospital in Carmel, IN. Four years later he moved on to Northwood Veterinary Hospital in Anderson, IN, where he spent 10 years refining his skills in surgery, internal medicine, and emergency care.
Dr. McDaniel currently lives in Noblesville with his wife Sara (also a veterinarian) and their three children Samuel, Megan, and Ben. They share their home with a golden retriever, Josie, and two cats, George and Momma Sophie. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends as well as bicycling, fishing, kayaking, and watching sports.
Our DVM, Dr. Bassett, is a lifelong resident of Central Indiana. He grew up in Anderson, then attended Purdue University. He graduated from Purdue’s School of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. After graduation, Dr. Bassett practiced in Eastern Iowa and worked on many different kinds of animals (dogs, cats, cattle, pigs, horses, sheep, etc.). In 1991, he returned to Indianapolis and began a career in emergency practice that continues to this day. He was manager of the Animal Emergency Clinic in Castleton from 1995-1998 and director of the Northwood Veterinary Emergency Practice in Anderson from 1998-2002, where he continued to work part-time as a staff veterinarian until 2013. Since starting the Hazel Dell Animal Hospital with Dr. McDaniel in 2002, Dr. Bassett has worked primarily in general practice, providing medical and surgical care to dogs and cats and other assorted small furry creatures.
Dr. Bassett is a resident of Carmel, where he lives with his wife Jill (a personal trainer and fitness facility manager) and their children Andrew, Noah, and Mia. Furry family members include dogs Midge, Kirby, and a lovable young Golden Retriever named Oscar and cats Morton, Lovey, and Dwight (named after a character on "The Office"). Dr. B has many interests and pursuits, including fitness, music, reading, and travel. Most of all, he enjoys spending time with Jill, the kids, extended family, and friends .
Dr. Cross was born and raised in Ellicott City, Maryland. Growing up, she spent a lot of time with both horses and dogs. It was in third grade that she decided that she wanted to become a veterinarian. After obtaining her Small Animal Science degree from Delaware Valley College in 2003, she attended the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine for her veterinary degree. It was there, on the first day of class that she met her soon to be husband, Randy. After graduating in 2007, Dr. Cross spent 4 years working as an associate veterinarian at a 5 doctor small animal hospital in New Jersey. In 2011, she and her husband (also a Veterinarian) moved to Carmel. She spent 4 years working as an associate veterinarian for VCA before deciding to join the family at Hazel Dell in the Fall of 2015.
Dr. Cross lives in Carmel with her husband Randy and their two young daughters Scarlett and Hazel. They have two dogs: Odie, a Jack Russell Terrier, and Nermal, a Beagle mix. In her spare time she enjoys walking, cooking, traveling, and riding her horse (Wizzard). Dr. Cross has always valued the human-animal bond and the significance it can bring to people's lives. She is very excited to be a part of our Animal Hospital and looks forward to meeting you and your furry family members.
Cindy has been with HDAH since the grand opening. As the office manager she plays an intricate role in the daily operations of Hazel Dell and has brought with her many years of management experience. She too has a large furry family. Her cats include Jabber, Winston, and Ziggy followed by Dazee and Maggie, the dogs. Cindy even has some llamas named Latte and China, as well as horses named Zoe and Belle. Cindy can be found frequenting the lobby passing out kisses and treats to our patients.
Dee Ann has been part of the Hazel Dell Team since July 2005. Dee Ann is usually the person who will greet you upon your arrival with a warm smile. She is an appointment-making, information-giving, and question-answering extraordinaire. She loves to spend time with her pets Rocco the Shepard/Husky mix, Willie the Beagle, and Bob the cat. She also loves her Paint Horse named Charlie.
Danielle is a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) who has been with us since June of 2010. While she began as a barn manager working with horses, she moved over to small animals where her passions are dentistry and animal behavior. She studied History and Sociology at Virginia Tech. When she knew she wanted to work with animals, she graduated from a Veterinary Technology Program in D.C. Danielle lives with her husband, James, daughter, Makenna, and son, Levi. She is proudly owned by her two dogs, Nico and Odie, and her three cats, Batale, Bella and Bonzai. Danielle also works with a rescue for dogs and loves reading and horseback riding in her spare time.
Joanna started working the veterinary field in 1996. She soon discovered that this was the path for her. She studied Veterinary Technology at the College of Southern Nevada while living in Las Vegas for two years. She joined Hazel Dell in January of 2011. You will find her ready to jump in and quickly help in any way that she can. She is a joy to have on the Hazel Dell Team. Joanna lives in Noblesville with her husband Damon and her son Derek. They share their home with two cats, Biscuit and Brooksie and Gypsy, the lazy pitty.
Kourtney joined HDAH in January of 2014. She brings with her over 12 years of veterinary experience. Kourtney started in the veterinary field at the age of 15. She grew up in Carmel and graduated in 2010 from Purdue University with a degree in Biology, but knew Veterinary Medicine is where she wanted to stay. She has worked in both general and emergency practices. Kourtney lives in Carmel, where she shares her home with two Standard Poodles, George and Rebel, a cat named Sonora and a cockatiel named Norman. In her spare time, Kourtney enjoys reading, swimming and walking her dogs.
Caroline graduated from the Vet Tech Institute in late December 2012. She joined our team after spending two month of her externship with us. She grew up in Zionsville with two older sisters, her older brother, and her two loving parents. She had always owned pets growing up, and she knew one day she’d love to work with animals as her career. She is looking forward to expanding her knowledge and skill set and passing her Vet Tech Exam to become a Registered Technician as well. While she is not working here, Caroline also works as a part time server. She now lives in Indianapolis with her two cats, Sicko and Rambler, and her rambunctious dog named Earl.
